Four Effective Article Marketing Strategies That Work

By: Mike Lawson

There are many different article marketing strategies available to you in your business, and some of them even combine other Internet marketing techniques, like search engine optimization.

However, if you're reading this article, you're probably looking for techniques that are a lot easier to implement. These techniques will show you how to do that.

Here are four techniques I use to get more from my articles:

1. Write a problem/solution article.

This is a type of article I try to write all of the time regardless of what other type of article I write (How To, tips, etc.)

First, you want to present the problem to your readers. Explain it to them. Then you present the solution. Show them what they need to do to solve their problem.

Offer them more information and a more complete solution in your resource box. This will help you get the click in your resource box.

2. Have a clear purpose in mind for your article.

Obviously, if you are using articles to promote your business, then your purpose for your article is to market your business. However, there is a deeper issue here you need to be aware of.

Are you trying to build backlinks to your web site, or are you trying to get more readers? There's nothing wrong with wanting to do one or the other. Some articles you write will be perfect search engine food, and they'll have the right amount of keywords. They will be properly optimized for the search engines. Readers may find them boring. That's OK because you've gotten the backlink.

Other articles you write you won't be able to optimize. These are articles you are writing to give specific information to you readers. You want to write these articles too because you want that traffic through your resource box.

The best articles will have both elements, and if it's possible do both. If you can't incorporate both benefits, then try mix it up so you are driving traffic through your articles and the search engines.

3. Focus on the four "P"s of marketing: product, price, place, and promotion.

You can actually use your articles to demonstrate how your business, and your products, are different from others. Show readers how your products will solve their problems. This goes back to point one where we talked about problem/solution articles.

You can also get independent reviewers to review your products and give their opinion. Reviews are another type of article you'll want to use in your business. Just don't use it with your own products.

Your main focus here needs to be on product and promotion. Show how you are different.

4. Combine your article marketing with social media.

Once you have published your article, you want to use social bookmarking services to build backlinks. It's also a way to tell your "friends" about your article.

Use micro blogging on sites like Facebook and MySpace to let your "friends" know you have published an article. This is an easy way to get more readers quickly.

Use your imagination, and you'll discover other article marketing strategies that help you get more traffic and sales.
